Animal Management

The livestock animals that are kept by most farmers in developing countries include dairy and beef cattle, pigs, goats, poultry, sheep and rabbits. Poultry include chicken, turkeys, ducks, geese and guinea fowls. The key products obtained from these animals are meat, milk, fur, skin and hides, wool, and eggs. For these animals to produce to the maximum good management practices are required. Well managed livestock enterprises can be very profitable. The major factors in all livestock enterprises that have to be keenly looked into include feeds and feeding, disease prevention and management, product processing, handling and marketing.
